Introducing our 2025 Pumpkin for the Planet Partners !

As pumpkins start to decorate front steps across Ottawa South, OSEAN is gearing up for the next phase of their vegetable lives…feeding hungry humans, hungry animals, and acting as land remediation. You can learn more about Pumpkins for the Planet (including how to vounteer!) on its dedicated webpage. As we prepare for the incoming gourds, we’d like to take a moment to introduce you to our our amazing Partners, collaborators and supporters who make this pumpkin dance possible!

We are excited to be working again with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. It was a pleasure working with these reMOOval professional (see what we did there) last year. This year they have committed to filling THREE trucks and bringing them to three local farms. This generous commitment will make it possible for us to reach our goal to rehome and repurpose 2500 pumpkins this year!

We are thankful for the support of Riverside Park Community Association - RPCA, which is the neighbourhood that accepts the transformation of their local park into "Pumpkin Alley" for 5 days

Foodsharing Ottawa will be collaborating with us to make sure no intact pumpkin is left behind. With the help of their volunteers, all intact pumpkins will be delivered to local food centres so that it can help fill some bellies this November

Sweet William Farms and Local Gardening Services were instrumental and ridiculously hard working providing volunteer support with pumpkin shuttling. We look forward to collaborating again this year.

New this year, we are excited to welcome Caldwell Family Center as a full partner this year. Over the last few years, this River Ward organization that works to reduce poverty has been a recipient of our intact pumpkins. This year, not only will they again be receiving intact pumpkins but they will be providing delicious treats at PumpkinFest on Nov 2nd.

Also new this year, we are are excited to collaborate with The Box of Life and Gaia Organic Seeds who are launching a compost pilot to return the nutritious components of pumpkins past their prime into soil amendment to support soil regeneration.

This year, NO pumpkin, regardless of its state of decay will be left behind. We will find use for all of them!

If you are a food center or farm looking to collaborate with us and benefit from FREE pumpkins, please reach out!
