Meet at the trail entrance beside the address, not at the house.
Looking for a reason to get outside and enjoy the double digit weather? Looking to meet other nature-minded people?
We promise you will learn more than a few things about our local ecosystem that you never knew!
Join Owen Clarkin, the president of the Ottawa Field Naturalists' Club, as he takes us on a guided tour of old growth forest remnants right in our suburban backyard. We will see spring ephemerals, trees that were left standing when massive logging ravaged the national capital region, including the rare sights of an approximately 250-year-old yellow birch, the tallest peach-leaved willow in North America, an endangered butternut, and even the mouldering remains of a 1967 Oldsmobile.
We will meet at the entry point at Kimberwick Crescent and the walk will start at 12:00. Parts of the trail will be flooded so please dress appropriately (i.e. tall rubber boots, not ankle version).
